Vavdos is a picturesque village in central Halkidiki, built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mount Vilka. The surrounding area is known for the largest magnesite mines in Greece. You can enjoy walks down cobbled streets with traditional stone houses. The central square, which has been declared a protected natural monument, is dominated by an enormous plane tree. The view from the Square will captivate you as you lie in front of the central plains of Halkidiki and spotting in the distance the gulf of Kassandra. The sights worth visiting are the church of the Virgin with a stone steeple and the folk museum which is housed on the ground floor of a traditional building that also houses the local primary school.
